What is Zumba Gold?
Zumba Gold is the Zumba Fitness program that is designed for the older active participant, or the newcomer to exercise or to Zumba Fitness.
It uses the same Latin and international rhythms as the Zumba Fitness class but does not include any high impact moves.
The choreography includes less changes so is perfect for anyone who may have mobility issues because of injury, age, weight or simply because they are new to exercise. It is easy to learn and it can be as gentle or as energetic as you wish. Everyone works at their own level and it is a great way to start your Zumba Fitness journey.
The aim is to keep the party going for the special groups of people and bring Zumba Gold classes almost anywhere — Where there’s an empty space, there’s a Zumba gold party waiting to happen!
Activating older adults and adults with learning difficulties
The Zumba Gold program is something more than just a typical exercise program, the benefits of movement is through music and dance. Sometimes older adults or those with learning difficulties may lose their will to exercise. Through the party like Zumba music it gets people moving again.
People improving recovery
The Zumba Gold program promotes flexibility, strength, stamina, mental agility and happiness, making it the perfect program for people who are bouncing back from an injury or surgery. The program is suitable for hospitals, rehab centres or as an in-home service, where an exercise program is often needed to help complete the rehabilitation process.
Beginners and all those with other reasons for starting steadily
Zumba gold classes give people the opportunity to enjoy the lively party atmosphere at their own pace. At community centres/ sheltered homes, retirement homes or churches, there is a party waiting to happen for a wide variety of populations and Zumba Gold classes further afield. There are people who shy away from gyms and generally come for the social benefits to meet other like-minded people, it's a great form of exercise for all to enjoy.
I also teach Zumba Chair classes for those with reduced mobility. These are taught at care homes and are private classes.
